Calphalon Cookware

The Calphalon cookware is made from a process invented by NASA to anodized aluminum cookware, which has the advantage that could be very hard and smooth, naturally resistant to corrosion, and also as non-stick. The first cookware products are made for professional chefs, but were later Calphalon products to the consumer.

Calphalon cookware has a few different product lines. The Calphalon One infused anodized aluminum cookware combines hard materials with an extremely durable non-stick surface pots and pans to produce. A typical single point injection system can come it two varieties: wet or dry injection. The dry injection systems supply only the nitrous oxide to the system. Wet injection systems mix the nitrous with fuel before delivering it to the engine. The dry injection system may contain a solenoid, the nitrous jets, and the nitrous pressure reference fuel pressure regulator. To get the added extra fuel, these systems will clamp the return fuel lines under nitrous conditions, raising the fuel pressure at the injectors. This will provide the extra fuel needed to stay at the optimum mixture levels. The disadvantage of these systems is that you can only squeeze so much fuel out of the stock injectors and fuel pump, and as the fuel ratio leans out under heavy nitrous runs, you get an increased risk of premature detonation which, when coupled with nitrous oxide, can have some terrible results.

Wet single point injection systems use a fogging or “fogger” nozzle to mix the fuel and nitrous together before spraying it into the intake. These systems solve the problem of the dry single point systems not being able to provide enough fuel. Considering that modern intakes are designed to flow air and not liquid, it is important to mix the fuel and nitrous gas before the intake throttle body. Most tuners and mechanics suggest at least six inches before the throttle body to get a good mixture. Since this type of fogging system has its own fuel supply, it is not limited to the fuel pump’s output.

Which one is better? That depends on how much nitrous oxide you intend to run through the system. Dry point injection is typically good for up to 50 horsepower shots because of the even fuel distribution from the injectors. A shot larger than this and you risk running lean, so the additional fuel is needed from a wet injection system. It is also a good idea to run a cooler grade spark plugs and at least 91 octane gas for these applications. Above 50 horsepower shots, and you may need to retard the timing by 2-4 degrees.

If you intend to blow the doors off the competition with a 75 shot or more of nitrous oxide, look into a direct port injection system. These nitrous oxide injection systems will be used specifically for race applications, and are not recommended for street use. These types of systems will be looked at in greater detail in our next segment.

Last year I was attended NEOCON in Chicago. This is an interior design industry event that brings together various (hundreds, in fact) manufacturers and allows them to strut their stuff for three days. This event is, for the most part, commercially focused, but there are always some products that will cross over to the residential realm.

NEOCON is held at the Merchandise Mart in downtown Chicago right on the river. The building is massive! I have heard that it is the largest building (by mass) in the US, but I am not sure if I believe that or not. Anyway, my firm gave all of us the challenge this particular year of going out in the Mart and finding the best ‘nugget’ we could. This artifact could be anything from a new type of seating, a new furniture system or a decorative finish. My love that day became a reclaimed wood manufacturer and refinisher.

I found Terra Mai tucked away with some other small companies on the 8th floor. I was awe struck by the rich tones and beauty of their wood samples lay over the carpet. I was thinking they were exotic red woods until I learned that they were all reclaimed species. Some of the materials and varieties available were old bleachers from high school gymnasiums. Another, which I fell in love with, was a series that gathered old fishing industry shipping crates, deconstructed them, cleaned, refinished and then resold the flooring. They called the product line “fishtail oak.” I cannot even describe how beautiful this was. It was as if every wood tone became compiled into one floor. There were hints of orange, red slices and yellow highlights. Absolutely gorgeous!

The pricing for such material is comparable to buying new hard wood at a premium. They have to cover the cost of collection, refinishing and shipping. It is also good to keep in mind that the inventory fluxes with what is found or available. There is a constantly updated website that allows for ease of shopping.

After retiring from the double snap-n-go for my twins, I’ve decided to get the 2008 Bumbleride Indie Twin after tons of research. This is the closest you can get in comparison to the Bugaboo stroller, only difference is that this comes in double stroller and Bugaboo does not. It is easy to maneuver, can almost fully recline, it’s got a huge storage compartment on the bottom of the stroller and pocket compartments on the back of each seat. Canopy works great, you can unzip the canopy and shift it forward, so that it can block the sun from the babies’ eyes.

At first, I was having a hard time trying to unfold and fold the stroller, once you get a hang of it, will become easier. I have an suv, the most challenging part is to lift this 34 lbs. heavy stroller on and off my car. If you are seriously considering this stroller, you have to be able be “strong” enough to do the lifting. Just imagine, if you have to run errands to multiple places, be prepared to do some heavy lifting. One day I was folding my stroller to lift it up to my car, I guess I looked like I was having a hard time lifting it…and a guy in his early 40s parked next to me and was nice enough to ask if I needed help to lift it up to my car. Sure enough, after helping me out, he said he couldn’t imagine that I have to do this all this time… But this is the type of stroller that gives you all the bells and whistles, you can’t really compare the weight to umbrella strollers if you want all the features its got. Other than that I think this is a great stroller to have. I have gotten tons of compliments about it almost every time we’re out.

Since this stroller doesn’t come with cup holders, I would highly recommend getting the “Sunshine Kids Accessory Buddy” from Amazon for only $9.99. It works so much better than any of those single cup holders out there. I bought a single cup holder and it broke soon after, it was such a waste of money. But with this, it’s affordable and multi-functional. It can hold 2 drinks and whatever you want to put in the middle. I plan on getting another one.
