Well at least thats what my Dad said(Combat Vet Marine). Ok, I guess the double clamp type tactical rings can “officially” do the job up to 50bmg. Since these were aluminum, I guess my technical side says triple clamps dont have to be cranked so hard when securing the scope, so why not enjoy the weight saving aluminum, and not have to feel like I need to really tighten these down like most guys, you know, snug’em, snug’em, walk away, then run back and snug once more just to be sure. Well, for instance, I only slightly put the smallest amount of tension on the scope with these rings so I could adjust the cross-hair alignment. Couldnt budge it, these things grab like they were welded to the scope. The triple clamps really hold like its the end of the world, and these are light. I really like them, but be warned. These rings(maybe all aluminum types), have a bolt and nut that allow you to tighten them to the weavers. If you use a wrench to tighten them down to the weavers watch the “non nut” side, these bolts are not seated, and give you a weird feeling if your not watching for it. You tighten them down, and watch for the bolt to pull-in, so that its counter-sunk just slightly, a millimeter, then its ready to be torqued to the inch pound setting. If you dont watch this, you will break the bolt off thinking its moving too easily,or doesnt seem to be tightening up, and then BOOM, it snaps. Mine worked great, shipped fast, and even the “overkill” look of my rifle is growing on my combat vet critic.
