[...]. The LifeCycles at my local gym were what I really wanted but, I thought they only sold commercial products, and I didnt want to pony up thousands of dollars for a bike. Well I found out that I actually had a local dealer that sold bikes based on the commercial equipment that I was used to. They have 3 different styles for Recumbant; the R1 -Scaled down model, R3 -Scaled down but decent model w/analog display, and R9i -Digital Display, top of the line. This is basically the commercial model but built for residential use, Tons of workout programs, Lifetime Warranty on frame, 3 years on movable parts. The seat is comfortable, I spend over an hour on it for most workouts and never have discomfort, there are also 30+ settings for the seat-to-peddle length.

I bought this because I wanted the luxery of exercising whenever I wanted, and not having to drive to the gym to get my cardio in. If your not familiar with this bike, find a local dealer, and check it out. [...].

The bike is smooth, solid and quiet, but the one I purchased has a manufacturer defect. The console is not aligned correctly due to a bad welding. I have been trying to get Smooth Fitness to fix the defect for the last 2 months, but they would not help and are rude. I guess I’ll have to get my credit company to deal with them. Also the Polar Wireless Chest Strap is missing. It is supposed to with it according to the product description. Smooth Fitness insists that no Polar Wireless Chest Strap comes with it. If I were to buy a bike again, I would not buy it from Smooth Fitness. Also, make sure you are not buying a bike from a seller who distributes them on behalf of Smooth Fitness, because you will have to deal with Smooth Fitness, should your bike has any problems. You have been warned!

I have had this for 2 months now in the box. I didnt assemble cause I was exhausted still from the elliptical I last assmebled.

The purchase price was 146. shipping from amazon was fast. of course the box

looked as if it had been opened and repackaged.

all parts were in there. there was no instruction manual and it took me 15 minutes online to actually find one.

assembly is fairly straightforward but the manual should be clearer. the diagrams are awful and some parts should have been easy but were confusing.

this took me 3 hours to assemble. but I think two people can set it up in 45 minutes. it just needs 3 hands to do it right.

the included tools are subpar but anyone with the right sized wrench can do it right.

the most confusing part was the cable end and spring hook. that is why many people had no tension working….

1. take the skinny metal part of cable and worm it into the hook (the bottom one).

2. then extend it upwards and pull on it until the upper metal part aligns properly and with a little finagling u should be set.

also make sure you have the all three cables and extensions hooked up. it took me 20 minutes to snake all three through the upright tube. pay attention to which end attaches to which end or you will repeat again and again.

finally when all was said and done, it was good to go and worked properly from the get go. the pulse sensor is super quick and fastet to pick up then higher end equipment.

I would have given it a 4 or 5 for price but I took off points for packaging, absence of a manual, and poor instructions.

I think the build is solid and this thing will last.

I’ve had my Lifecycle 5500 HR fitness bike since 1997 and I’ve loved the workout I’ve gotten from it over the years. The 9500R is pretty close to it, except for the seat model. You get the same high quality digital control system that gives you all sorts of hill profiles, fitness levels, and programmable exercise time. The digital progress bar lets you see where you are on your workout and shows you the number of equivalent miles you have ridden as well as calories burned per hour. I haven’t needed any type of maintenance done on it so far in the last nine years even with all of the regular use I’ve given it.

If you are going to purchase an exercise bike and you are serious about the time you want to invest in your workout and the quality you want, don’t accept a cheap substitute. Spend the extra dollars and get a lifecycle. You won’t be sorry.

Package arrived undamaged. Curbside delivery, but driver carried it to garage.

Took a couple of evenings to assemble. Typical weakly written instructions. It is helpful to have some basic mechanical skills. No extra parts, but also all listed parts were there.

(16) step installation process. No issues except with a few steps.

Step 1 – Had to burnish out the two holes on the front stabilizer so bolts would clear (over-weld).

Step 7 – Says (3) sets of parts when it is really (4) sets of parts.

Step 8 – Seat Back Pivot Cover was already installed.

Step 9 – Be very careful tightening these screws to avoid stripping. Screws go into an unusual gripping bolt.

Step 12 – Says (4) sets of parts when it is really (6) sets of parts.

Seems to be a relatively solid and heavy-duty exercise bike that should hold up well. Time will time.
