I have had this head unit for about two weeks now. I LOVE IT. its just like the ones that are permanant touch screens but when you turn off the car it folds itself back up. Great when you are in a bad area!! The dvd feature is great. i pod dock is a plus and the sirius is killer. have not tried to use the blue tooth yet but if your intrested in this product buy it here!!! I paid $920 for mine in the store. You CANNOT pass this up. The touch screen is great! And I highly recommend getting it professionally installed. I tried but there is just way to many wires to figure out. BUY BUY BUY!!!

I bought this car stereo and I regreted, it is too complicated, if you are driving you need to stop to adjust your equalizer or to change any settings, it is not practical, in the other hand it has good sound.

Customer Reviews
The idea of the in-dash pure digital media receiver I think will have traction in the future, but this one is “not ready for prime time.” I haven’t had a radio in my car for probably around 7 years now, and I just wanted something simple that played USB thumb drives and made noise that sounded music-like. In other words, my requirements were low. To get the USB mp3 functionality in another manufacturer I was easily looking at $100+ and I was looking for something that I could sell with the car and not give too much thought about. So the PL95MU at around $50 looked about right. I’d read some reviews of its relatives and they all say the radio is weak – this is no exception, but I don’t listen to the radio any more anyway so it was an option I decided I’d pretend didn’t even exist while ordering it.

Playing music off of the USB drive is great, excellent storage medium. I’ve not tried the SD reader, but will probably get a card, or look for a shorter USB, or use a cable to displace the drive because my car is a stick shift and the USB is sticking out to a point where it feels a little bit in danger of getting smacked while shifting into 5th gear (something that will obviously be different for every car). An option to have a USB cable coming out of the back and accessed in the glove box would have been nice. The interface with the music is extremely simplistic and when you put a USB drive, simply gives you a whole bunch of numbers. Potentially hundreds depending on what you have on your drive. You can skip one song, or skip ten songs – that’s the extent of your seeking ability. Hitting skip makes a little pop and then fadeout before switching. Slightly annoying.

I planned on doing a review on this after a few weeks anyway because there were none here and I’ve found other reviews helpful here. What clinched my doing a review on this product…it pi***d me off.

Why it pi***d me off enough to really write this: It locked on. Every now and then it’ll get this “USB ERR” message, sometimes it’ll recover, sometimes you have to wait until you turn the key off before it’ll clear. This time turning the key off did not recover it and the lights behind the buttons stayed on – I HAD TO PULL THE PLUG. I have easy access to do so, but someone who didn’t might get this thing stuck on and have their battery drained and a permanent “USB ERR” staring them in the face. This is unacceptable and why this gets 1 flaming turd.

Another thing it seems to do rather randomly is not recover from a wakeup with the USB drive still in it. Most of the time it comes on and restarts from the last song you were on – sometimes it just displays “USB PLAY” and will sit there forever and do nothing, forcing you to pull out the drive and incur a “USB ERR.” Which it may or may not recover from. This seems to be worse the higher the number of the song.

Also, though the ad claims 200watts of power, the manual (which has horrible, and entertainingly funny, English) claims a 1 amp fuse on the switched power, and 7 amp fuse on the continuous power wire. Since 7 amps multiplied by 12 volts is 84 watts, and there’s likely some overhead involved for inefficiencies and other losses…this thing is 50 watts (total) maximum. It seems not much louder than the factory 25 watt radio that preceded it.

Installed a few weeks ago into an ‘02 Sprinter, replacing a Sound 30 without aux in. For about $100, does everything I wanted:

* Charge and play iPod touch- without any cords!

* Front-mounted aux in for laptop or other MP3 players

* Simple controls

* Bluetooth

The negative points in the other reviews are true:

* Bluetooth audio isn’t the best- but you can always pass it back to the handset

* Equalizer on LCD is always on and largely useless

* iPOD tray comes out easily- but the iPOD Touch insert snaps in so it’s always out anyway

* Clock won’t stay on display when playing radio or other input

Still, these are minor issues to deal with for the price. I’ve put a 1000 miles on the vehicle since installation, $100 well spent.

Waited a long time to get a receiver with all the new features (USB, iPOD, multi file support, etc.) available to the car stereo market but the wait was worth it. The receiver has worked flawlessly for the past month that I’ve owned it. Feature packed and well constructed, I would recommend to anyone looking for an advanced receiver.

The only issue has been in the availability of the remote (MW1), which is still at the time of this review not available. This has proven to be a real hassle and a source of frustration. It would have been nice if Clarion would have made everything available at the time of release and BEFORE the start of boating season.

IN-DASH CD RECEIVER

Customer Reviews
You wouldn’t believe that a radio made after the year 1990 would actually have an analog tuner, but this one does, and it has a mind of its own. Absolutely the worst purchase ever. Just like everyone else said it is terrible. I just wanted something that I could plug my ipod into. Well you can do that, but if EVERYTHING else is garbage on the radio it isn’t worth it. The CD skipped, there are NO PRESETS (radios in the 1950’s had presets), the lights along the bottom of the unit light up, but the labels that tell what the buttons are for do NOT light up. So I had to turn on the dome light in my car to see which buttons to push. Amazon.com was great though and took it back without issue. They should search for another low cost alternative to sell though!

Customer Reviews
With shipping included the Clarion M275 Marine Stereo arrived at my doorstep for under $97. I had it professionally installed with a top of the line pair of 6.5″ two way speakers and the sound is AWESOME! When underway the volume is not quite enough to be heard over the engine and wind noise but I bought the stereo to listen to when beached at the sand bar and for that it does a great job.

Newer (read more expensive) Marine stereos may cost more but I don’t see the value in their added features (I do not want or need a remote or a larger display). This unit plays any CD/MP3/WMA format, has the auxiliary jack for my iPod/portable MP3 player right on its face, costs under $100 and sounds AWESOME when paired with high quality speakers. What more could you ask for? Throw in a second set of speakers and an amp and you will have a slamming set up!

If you are looking for a straight forward receiver and are in doubt about this unit because so many others sell for $150 to $300 plus don’t be. It is a true bargain.

Purchased this unit about 2 weeks ago just installed it the other day. Wiring leads are nice and thick however it lacks a remote wire for an amplifier. Its just bare minimum for wiring the speaker leads – Hot – Constant – Ground It does have an RCA input lead, a Sub mono out, Front and Rear RCA. Unit once installed worked for about 3 min then failed. I now have no power to the unit. All connections are clean and free from shorting out. All open wires from the wiring kit were covered to prevent a short and all fuses are good in the car and the head unit. Returning for a refund and I will not buy Boss again.
